Aloha, I’m Laura,
A Hawaii-based portrait painter creating bright, full of personality kid’s portraits.
We start with a relaxed photo shoot at the beach. You recieve a gallery of images and choose your favorite. Then I create your custom oil painting in my South Kona studio and ship it safely to your door.
How the Portrait Process Works
An easy, streamlined service that you can fit into any Kona beach day with the keiki.
-
Once we decide on your preferred date, location, and type of painting, I’ll send you a proposal along with a link to make your initial investment.
-
We meet at your desired location for a fun play session to catch some great candid shots.
-
You get to choose which photo we’ll paint. After the shoot, I’ll select three paint-worthy images. You choose your favorite. For group portraits, multiple photos may be collaged so everyone looks their best.
-
Once your painting is complete it’s shipped safely with Fedex insured and signature required for delivery. All that’s left is to find the perfect spot for it!

Still Have Questions?
-
Yes! Disclaimer: I’m not a professional photographer with fancy lenses or cameras. As a painter I DO know a thing or two about light and composition and take decent photos. I’m not promising to rival a professional photographer but you do get a gallery of photos with your painting.
-
I save both the day before and after your shoot so we have flexibility if anything comes up.
-
If you’re doing the 16×20 size and there is at least one week in-between your shoot and departure date we can absolutely make this happen. Just let me know when you book.
-
Approximately 1 month.
-
Yes! I offer flexible payment plans with up to 12 payments, so long as the painting is paid in full before it’s shipped/ delivered.
-
Shipping is not included.
Finished artwork is carefully packaged and shipped directly to your home.
Shipping costs are calculated based on size and destination and quoted prior to delivery. -
Yes! A travel fee of $500 covers airport parking, flights, rental car, and a day of studio time. If you feel confident taking a high resolution (and not blurry!) photo we can skip the travel fee ;)
-
I have to see the photo to verify if it will work for a painting but assuming it is, this is a yes.
Originally from Southern California, I grew up in a wet bathing suit and am still happiest in the water! No kids but definitely a kid at heart.
These paintings celebrate the wonder of childhood and the beauty of the ocean through portraits that become lasting keepsakes.
I’d love to make a heirloom portrait painting for you, whether you’re visiting the Big Island or call it home.
Professional credentials include: 20 years as a Live Wedding Painter, BFA from MICA, MFA from UW, and a Fulbright to Spain.
